Danny Federici 1950 - 2008
Danny has accompanied Bruce Springsteen since 1969, in the bands Child and Steel Mill. He's worn his hair long, sported a beard and adopted a lean trim look during The Rising Tour. Quiet by nature, his playing speaks volumes and contains multitudes: He brings more to a Springsteen concert than he's ever been given credit for. In Danny's case greatness is understood, measured in the sublime flicker of his organ-playing hands. Always remembered, greatly missed.
In reading "For You," at first it’s hard to believe that one performer could possibly have touched this many people this deeply – lifted them from depression, kept them from suicide, helped them through divorce or the death of a parent, or worse, a child. But story after story reveals just how much Springsteen’s music and his almost superhuman presence on the concert stage have penetrated people’s lives and, in as much as it is possible for music to do so, made them whole. In fact, there’s a running theme of these reminiscences, one that is sure to warm any Bruce fan’s heart: that you are not crazy. Not crazy for seeing dozens or even hundreds of concerts; not crazy for feeling that Springsteen’s songs and lyrics have actually helped carry you through some of life’s toughest moments; not crazy to think that this man whom you’ve never met has and continues to fill some kind of void in your life. Peter Chianca, Excerpt from Blogness on the Edge of Town
If I had to sum up this book in one word it would be ‘beautiful.’ This book is without a doubt for ‘real fans.’ I have quite a collection of books about Bruce but this one is different to the rest by the fact that it’s brim full from front to back with stories from fans. It has given fans the opportunity to tell their stories of themselves & Bruce. The stories are short, long, happy, sad, joyous, excited, funny and above all heartfelt. Every one dying to share their story or little piece of Bruce with everyone else. What comes through more than anything else is how this very special man, his music, his writing and his band has dramatically effected and enriched the lives of so many people. This book is filled with emotion... so be prepared to find yourself smiling, nodding your head in a knowing way, laughing... and crying. You will put the book down but a story you read in there will stay with you and you’ll pick it up & read that story over again. Rumble Doll UK
Accompanied by hundreds of photos, the stories hit on the typical facets of fanaticism - the quest for connection, the pinpoint clear recollections of first-time experiences and the life-enriching quality of poignant songs.

Through the years, I’ve read almost every book written about Springsteen. Some are great and many are not. Over time, I’ve even become cynical when I hear about new books. In the last few years, there have been a plethora of coffee table book releases in the Springsteen world. Each one in itself is a gorgeous work of art that will glisten on your polished coffee table. However, chances are you are still missing the ultimate Bruce Springsteen keepsake, "For You".

This marvelous collection of fan tales, testimonials and memories alsofeatures many photographs of other musicians and personalities who mademusic with Bruce over the years: The E Street Band, Southside Johnny,Bono/U2, Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Patti Smith, Robert Gordon, Gary U.S. Bonds,Joe Grushecky, Ronnie Spector, John Fogerty, Neil Young, Michael Stipe,Jackson Browne, and many more. Introducing For You - the Book
As a Bruce Springsteen fan, you already know of "For You," the song, as well as the previous incarnation of Foryoubruce.com. What the previous site only promised we are now set to deliver. This book is a brand new item for you to consider adding to your collection of Bruce Springsteen memorabilia. But you'll need to move fast as it is being printed as a limited run of only 2000 copies.
Thanks to the fans
For You - the book is finally a reality thanks to you - the fans. This unusual storybook comes with lots of original photos - almost 500 in total. But it is far more than just a Bruce Springsteen picture book or a photo album. It can also be considered to be a sort of a biography - as told through a collection of first-person short stories.
What For You is not
For You is not an unauthorized biography of Bruce Springsteen, even though he is a part of all the stories. These are also not the tales of the personal experiences of this fabled rock star, whose career spans almost four decades.
These tales focus on the experiences of his legions of fans - aka the Bruce Tramps - as they follow him around from concert to concert, tour to tour, and year to year.
For You - the book puts the fans front and centre, focussing on the personal stories of a little-documented but essential segment of the world of popular music - the fans. And in this case, the legendary Bruce Springsteen fans. Those who were there from Born to Run along Thunder Road, through The Darkness on the Edge of Town and The Main Point, hurtling through the Backstreets via the Roxy and the Hammersmith Odeon, and San Francisco's Winterland, following the Ghost of Tom Joad and Devils and Dust, back to New York's famed Madison Square Garden and London's Royal Albert Hall... then right back up the road to Frankfurt's Festhalle, Stockholm's Hovet Arena and Oslo's Spektrum as well as Milan's famed Forum. All the way, it seems, up the steps of Carnegie Hall, with a pit stop or two at the Stone Pony along the way.
For You documents the life and times of the fans of one of popular music's true icons of rock and roll - The Boss himself. From the very beginning of his career out on the New Jersey shore as a leather-jacketed college dropout, through the eyes of his fanatic and faithful fans, we follow Bruce; rocking with him around the world to Berlin, Brussels, Bologna, Barcelona, Brisbane and back again to Boston, Bridgeport and Buffalo. Each decade brings new music, new places to visit, new and old fans to delight, and new memories to make.
The fans and their stories chronicle Springsteen's early development in the music scene of the 1960s and 1970s, and through all of his amazing successes, including his presentation by Bono and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 15, 1999, and following him right up to his All-Star Tribute Concert in mid-2007.
In fact, what makes this book unique is its absolute fan-focus perspective. It is, of course, still very much the public face of Bruce Springsteen's career: Springsteen live, lyrics, songs, new albums, classic albums, photos, concerts, tours, the E Street Band, Bruce Springsteen and The Sessions Band. You name it, it's in here! "The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle"

For You - the book also contains many previously undocumented interactions behind the scenes, off the stage as well as on it; all of which are told through the personal experiences and photographic lens of his faithful fans.

After reading the new book "For You", I’m not so sure there is such a thing as ‘just another night’ when it comes to Springsteen. The lovingly compiled hardcover tome’s subtitle says it all: ‘Original Stories and Photographs by Bruce Springsteen’s Legendary Fans.’ Over the span of more than 200 pages, those fans share their own Springsteen stories as well as hundreds of previously unseen, largely live photos, many of which are startlingly intimate, whether they're capturing the man onstage in front of thousands or, in one case, chatting with a young Bono in 1981. This is an awesome looking, beautiful hardcover book full of amazing stories and no less amazing pictures. The best part is that this is not just another run-of-the-mill Bruce biography like we have seen so many times. This book is indeed made up 100% of fan tales from around the world and with loads and loads of never-before seen pictures, many of which are among the best shots of Bruce you are likely to see anywhere...

If you are any kind of a Springsteen fan, you need this book! The first story brought me to tears it was so moving and so well written. I am not a big reader, but I sat there in my den last night with the TV on and must have spent almost 2 hours just reading the stories and looking over the great photos from the early years, and thinking back to my younger days. I can’t wait to get home tonight to pick up where I left off in the book. Do yourself a favor and grab this book while you still can, it is worth every penny... My wife doesn’t get why I am such a Springsteen freak, well I am going to let her read this and maybe afterwards she will understand. Steven Delmar Edison, New Jersey
"For You" serves as a collection of fan testimonials to the sacred power of The Boss. Included in the collection are nearly 500 photos of Bruce and his E Street Band in action throughout the years.

Fans of Bruce Springsteen are not only devoted but articulate about why they worship the Boss. The new book "For You: Original Stories & Photographs by Bruce Springsteen’s Legendary Fans" is the work of disciples from Boise to Barcelona. The mayor of Delray Beach, Fla., says it best: ‘Bruce fans are a fraternity - we share something deep and special, a relationship with the artist and with each other.’ Jon Bream, Minneapolis-St.Paul Star Tribune
Bruce Springsteen fans have submitted their memories and photos for inclusion in a new book, "For You", by Lawrence Kirsch.
